‘Drag Race’ legends slay video for reworked George Michael and Mary J. Blige classic ‘Always’

Waze & Odyssey and Tommy Theo's reworking of the pair's 1999 single 'As' is the summer anthem of our dreams.

Waze & Odyssey and Tommy Theo’s ‘Always’ was already looking like one of our songs of the summer, but it’s official now that our favourite Drag Race stars have come together for an incredible alternative video filled with all the sass and serves you’d expect.

‘Always’, a dancefloor-ready reworking of George Michael and Mary J. Blige’s 1999 classic ‘As’, is the soulful sing-a-long anthem that’s been lighting up our #Queerantine playlists in recent weeks, and now drag legends from both sides of the pond have lent their impeccable lipsyncing abilities to the track.

Queens serving lockdown realness to the sound of late gay icon George include RuPaul’s Drag Race stars Aquaria, Yvie Oddly, Shea Coulee, Trinity The Tuck and ValentinaDrag Race UK‘s Divina De Campo, Cheryl Hole and Blu Hyrdrangea, and of course the legendary Lady Bunny.

The alternative drag video for mammoth house anthem ‘Always’ comes hot on the heels of the official video, released earlier this month.

The video paid tribute to the kaleidoscopic club visuals of the original ‘As’ video, which saw multiple versions of Michael and Blige jamming out together.

Michael and Blige’s ‘As’ originally peaked at number four on the Official UK Singles Chart. It was the second single lifted from Ladies & Gentlemen: The Best of George Michael after ‘Outside’, which famously referenced the late star’s arrest for gross indecency and subsequent outing in the press.
