Dolly Parton rules out a sequel to 9 to 5.

Last year, the iconic country singer teased she, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin were all in talks to reprise their roles in a long-awaited sequel to the cult classic 9 to 5.

The three actresses starred in the hit 1980 comedy – which focused on three women trying to get revenge on their lying, misogynistic boss – and the film became an instant hit and was also turned into a stage musical based around Parton’s iconic music.

However, while speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Parton has ruled out a sequel saying they couldn’t find a ‘good enough’ script.

She said: “I don’t think we’re going to do the sequel.

“We never could get the script where it was enough different than the first one, and that one turned out so good.”

However, she teased that the three actresses could team up for a ‘completely different thing’ so there’s that to hope for.

She continued: “We’re thinking we might do a completely different thing together, Jane, Lily and I.

“We may do something different altogether, but I don’t think we’ll continue with [the sequel].”
