Disney’s Love, Simon TV series has found its leading man.

Following on from the success of Greg Berlanti’s hit movie – which starred Nick Robinson as the titular character struggling with his sexuality – Disney announced that they will be creating a sequel series based around the Love, Simon world.

The upcoming series is being produced for the corporation’s new streaming service Disney+ and will be adapted from Becky Albetalli’s 2018 novel ‘Leah on the Offbeat’, the sequel to 2015’s ‘Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda’ upon which Love, Simon is based.

And now, it has been revealed that Michael Cimino will star as the series’ leading character named Victor.

The character is described as being a ‘new student at Creekwood High School on his own journey of self-discovery, facing challenges at home, adjusting to a new city, and struggling with his sexual orientation’.

Victor will reportedly reach out to Simon for advice on how to get through high school life with his secret.

Ugly Betty star Ana Ortiz  and James Martinez will star as Victor’s mother and father, Isabel and Armando, and Robinson will produce and narrate the series.

George Sear has also been cast as the ‘super-cute hipster’ Benji who catches the eye of Victor.

While there’s no word on when the Love, Simon TV series will be with us, Disney’s Netflix-rvialling streaming service Disney+ is set to launch in the US on November 12, 2019.
