Joshua Bassett has opened up about his sexuality journey in his latest interview, calling the moment his “anti-coming out.”

The High School Musical: The Musical: The Series star generated global headlines earlier this year when he hinted he was not straight during a video interview.

In the clip, the 20-year-old called ‘Golden’ singer Harry Styles “hot” and “charming” before adding: “I guess this is my coming out video.”

In a subsequent statement, the star said: “It’s OK to still be figuring out who you are.”

“There are plenty of letters in the alphabet”

Speaking to GQ this week, the actor elaborated on the subject, saying: “I am anti–coming out in the sense that there’s no need to.”

He however added: “People are welcome to have boxes if they want them.”

Joshua continued: “There are plenty of letters in the alphabet… Why bother rushing to a conclusion? Sometimes your letter changes, sometimes you try a different one, other times you realize you’re not what you thought you were, or maybe you always knew. All of these can be true.

“I’m happy to be a part of the LGBTQ+ community because they embrace all. Don’t let anyone tell you love isn’t love. They’re the ones who probably need it the most.”

Joshua is also known for his TV role Grey’s Anatomy and singles ‘Lie Lie Lie’ and ‘Only a Matter of Time’.
