Did ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ just accidentally announce the season 9 winner?

By Ross Semple

Someone on the RuPaul’s Drag Race social media team may have made a spectacular mistake.

We still have over a week to wait until the grand finale of season 9, but the cat may have been accidentally let out of the bag early.

This season, in a break with tradition, the top three have become a top four after Ru decided not to send anyone home following the sickening lip sync in last week’s episode. That leaves Sasha Velour, Shea Couleé, Trinity Taylor, and Pepperment all in the running to become America’s Next Drag Superstar. Or does it?

Yesterday, a Reddit user spotted that the official Drag Race Twitter account had changed its header image from the below, which features a group shot of all the season 9 queens …

… to this new header, which showcases one queen in particular:

So, what does this mean? Is Sasha Velour the winner? Or are VH1 just punking us?

With the strength of this season’s top four, it’s anyone’s game so we’ll just have to wait and see.

Tonight’s episode (available to UK viewers on Netflix tomorrow) is the reunion, which gives the queens to hash out any differences they have with one another. We have to wait another week to find out which of the final four has snatched the crown.

Would you be happy if the spoiler was true?

Watch a preview for the reunion below:
