Conor Maynard is appearing on The X Factor this weekend – but not in the way you might think

By Will Stroude

If you tune in to this Saturday night’s episode of The X Factor, you are in for a treat. Conor Maynard with be performing a cover of Zara Larson’s ‘Lush Life’, but not in the way you would expect.

Rather than being on the main stage, Conor will be the starring in on of the infamous TalkTalk ad in the breaks, showing off their new FX Star App.

“I’m a huge fan of The X Factor, and the TalkTalk adverts are such an iconic part of the show – I can’t wait to see myself in the ads!” the 23-year-old ‘R U Crazy’ singer says.

The ads will also come with the exciting opportunity for fans to appear on National TV.

On the 17th November, Conor will take to his YouTube channel – the same one US R&B star Ne-Yo used to discover him in 2012 – with instructions on how his follows can use the FX Star App to win a slot in the add break alongside him, as well as the chance to meet him at the X factor Final at Wembley.

The app allows users to create their own covers of their favorite songs. Given that Conor started out making covers on YouTube, on a channel that now has 3 million subscribers, he’s very excited to be involved in the project.

“I recorded at home in my bedroom and that’s why I love how FX Star gives everyone the chance to have their moment of fame,” he says.

The X Factor continues at 8pm this Saturday November 19 on ITV.
