Channel 4 show First Dates seeking new recruits

By Nick Bond

Channel 4’s First Dates is returning and is looking for new applicants of all ages, genders and sexualities.

The award-winning fly-on-the-wall dating series sees single people from across the UK going on a blind date in a unique restaurant where nobody besides the staff has met before. If you caught the most recent season, which recently finished on Channel 4, you’ll know the show has a strong LGBT contingent – hopeful gay men, loved-up lesbians and this season, the show’s first transgender participant in Alex (below at right, pictured alongside her date JSky).

Regular viewers will know you’ve got a few likely outcomes ahead of you if you get selected to appear on the show: Either you’ll meet the love of your life (score!), make a new friend (still great) or, uh, you’ll have a good story to tell your mates at the pub afterwards (see James and Stevie, below, whose date was one of the more disastrous of the season).

The behind-the-scenes matchmakers have already received applications from thousands of hopeful singletons ready to meet someone special in TV’s most loved-up restaurant.

Single people looking to meet their match can apply for the series by heading to Channel4.com/firstdates.
