‘Call Me By Your Name’ author André Aciman confirms he’s writing a sequel
Elio and Oliver's story is set to continue in a follow-up to the 2007 book.

There’s been plenty of talk about a movie sequel to Call Me By Your Name since Luca Guadagnino’s lush romantic drama captured hearts last year, and now the author of the book upon which the film is based has confirmed that he’s writing a follow-up.
André Aciman, who penned the 2007 story charting the summer romance of 17-year-old Elio (played in the film by Timothée Chalamet) and 24-year-old grad student Oliver (Armie Hammer) in 1980s Italy, revealed on Twitter on Monday (3 December) that he’s working on a sequel.
“I would actually love a sequel to Call Me by Your Name, the American novellist, 67, wrote.
“In fact I am writing one”.

While it’s not clear whether Aciman is writing a new novel or writing a screenplay for a film sequel (the book was originally adapted for the screen by James ivory), the author’s work is likely to influence the direction of any potential second screen outing for Elio and Oliver.
The first film’s director Luca Guadagnino has previously said he’s “serious” about revisiting the characters, and has hinted that a sequel could be set several years after the events of the original, during the height of the AIDS crisis.
Both Chalamet and Hammer have indicated they’d be onboard for a second Call Me By Your Name movie, with Chalamet admitting ealier this year that he can’t “see any world where it doesn’t happen.”
“I think André is comfortable with a sequel being made, the 22-year-old actor said.
“I know Luca really wants. And I know Armie and I are 1000% in.”
