Britney Spears has shared her excitement and nervousness ahead of the release of her duet with Sir Elton John on ‘Hold Me Closer‘.

“Okie dokie … my first song in six years!!!! It’s pretty damn cool that I’m singing with one of the most classic men of our time, Elton John!!!!” Britney tweeted on Thursday (25 August) ahead of the track’s release on Friday (26 August).

Spears, 40, has been quiet on social media for the past two months after she announced her marriage to model and actor Sam Asghari and deleted her Instagram account.

“I’m kinda overwhelmed… it’s a big deal to me!!! I’m meditating more and learning my space is valuable and precious!!!” she continued.

Hold Me Closer marks her first music release since her 2016 critically lauded album Glory and her 14-year conservatorship running every facet of her life was lifted in November 2021.

“I’m learning everyday is a clean slate to try and be a better person and do what makes me happy… yes I choose happiness today,” Spears added. “I tell myself every day to let go of the hurt bitterness and try to forgive myself and others to what may have been hurtful.”

“I want to be fearless like when I was younger and not be so scared and fearful. I pray there actually is truth to the Holy Spirit and I hope that spirit is with my children as well!!! Yes … I choose happiness and joy today,” Spears concluded her thread.

Elton John shared a snippet of the track on 20 August and then performed a short part of it live for patrons of a restaurant in Cannes on Tuesday (23 August).

With people gathering around the DJ booth cheering for him, John took the mic and sang along as the track was played.

The Attitude September/October issue is out now.
