Bimini Bon Boulash drops punky non-binary anthem ‘God Save This Queen’

Two and a half months after Bimini Bon Boulash was pipped to the post by Lawrence Chaney in the finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK series two, fan favourite queen has released their debut single – and what a statement it is.
‘God Save This Queen’ is a punky non-binary anthem for the ages which sees Norfolk-born Bimini tackle bigotry, class politics and living a fabulously gender-free life.
Co-written with Billie Blonde and Redshank, who also produced the track, ‘God Save This Queen’ sees Bim galloping through Pulp-esque lyrics like: “Fragile masculinity won’t get you very far / Throughout all of history it’s left too many scars / Give the freedom to the people to be who they really are.”
Bimini, who only began performing in drag on the east London scene around 18 months before being cast on Drag Race UK, quickly endeared themselves to viewers earlier this year with their warm, engaging approach to queer politics.

‘God Save This Queen’ sees Bimini continue to kill the small-minded among us with kindness, just weeks after a mural in the Norfolk city of Norwich celebrating their achievements was vandalised.
At the time, 28-year-old Bimini, aka Tommy Hibbetts, wrote o social media: “I will never stop being myself. I’ll never shy away from living an authentically queer experience even if there are people that disagree with our existence.
“Trans rights are human rights and I will push that message until the end.”
