Beyoncé and the Dixie Chicks slay the Country Music Awards with a duet of ‘Daddy Lessons’: WATCH

By Josh Lee

Beyoncé’s world domination efforts continued apace last night as she teamed up with country legends the Dixie Chicks to perform a spectacular rendition of Daddy Lessons from Bey’s genre-busting, critically acclaimed album, Lemonade at the Country Music Awards.

Beyoncé’s reputation for exceptional live performances has been outdone this year, kicking off with the showstopping Formation at the Super Bowl, before burning up the BET Awards stage with Freedom, and more recently her incredible 16-minute-long Lemonade medley at the VMAs. And last night’s performance was no different, proving once again that, when it comes to entertaining, Queen Bey is peerless.

The news that Bey would be taking to the CMAs stage was met with backlash from some of the more bitter corners of the internet, but the Formation diva silenced the naysayers with an electrifying performance, flanked by an incredible live band and of course the Dixie Chicks ladies.

The latter’s appearance was particularly special as they were denounced and boycotted by a sizeable portion of conservative country music fans following their criticisms of George W. Bush and the Iraq war. Lead singer Natalie Maines took to Twitter after the performance to celebrate their performance, saying, “I’m pretty sure I’ve uttered the sentence, ‘I will never perform on the CMA’s again as long as I live.’ And then came…” before adding a bee emoji, which of course represents the Queen Bey herself.
