Attitude’s Top 10 LGBT TV shows of 2015

By Attitude Magazine

Both State-side and on these shores, it’s been a breakthrough year for LGBT representation on the small screen. From trans lives the UK’s first trans sitcom to Russell T Davies’ spiritual successor to Queer as Folk, not a month’s gone by without a rainbow water-cooler moment. Here we present our top 10 LGBT TV shows of the year…

High camp, gory deaths and hot boys: how could Ryan Murphy have made us love his series more? By casting Lady Gaga as his leading lady for series 5, that’s how.

9) HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER

HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER - ABC's "How to Get Away with Murder" stars Matt McGorry as Asher Millstone, Karla Souza as Laurel Castillo, Aja Naomi King as Michaela Pratt, Alfred Enoch as Wes Gibbins, Jack Falahee as Connor Walsh, Academy-Award Nominee Viola Davis as Professor Annalise Keating, Liza Weil as Bonnie Winterbottom, Billy Brown as Nate and Charlie Weber as Frank Delfino. (ABC/Bob D'Amico)

A pioneering show for LGBT causes, Shonda Rhimes’ HTGAWM has already tackled PrEP, a same-sex romance for Viola Davis, a transgender character, and plenty of gay sex scenes in just one and a half seasons.

8) LOOKING

Another show from the prolific Ryan Murphy, Scream Queens is somewhere between Scream and Mean Girls, with a sexually confused Nick Jonas thrown in for good measure.

It was divisive, but Russell T Davies’ three part drama which explored modern gay life gave us all much to chew over; notably through the experience of middle aged Henry, whose mid life crisis carried the plot of the main show Cucumber.
