Are the Spice Girls holding auditions to replace Posh and Sporty?

By Anthony Lorenzo

Reports have surfaced claiming the Spice Girls are holding auditions to replace Posh and Sporty for their planned 20th anniversary reunion.

According to US gossip magazine Life & Style, a ‘source’ told them that after Victoria Beckham and Mel C opted out of returning for the group’s 20th anniversary reunion tour, Emma Bunton, Geri Horner and Mel B decided to hold auditions to replace them on a planned tour.

“It wasn’t a surprise that Victoria would decline the tour, but the girls really hit the roof when Mel C ditched too,” the source said.

“The girls are going to be making a formal announcement about tryouts for their spots in the next few weeks.

“Posh and Sporty can be replaced.”

Emma Bunton, Mel B and Geri Horner (née Halliwell) are all reported to be reuniting to mark twenty years since the girls exploded onto the music scene with their infectious brand of pop and girl power.

Fans were sent into meltdown last month after reports emerged that the three had been spotted in the studio together, raising the prospect that the reunion could also see the Spice Girls’ first original material since 2007’s ‘Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)’, which reached Number 11 on the Official UK Singles Chart.

Most recently, all of the girls came together to perform at the 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony, and fans hope that individual commitments won’t get in the way of what would be a historic moment for pop music.

All we can do is hope that the information is false, and that even if Victoria and Mel C don’t return, we won’t be seeing anybody trying to fill their iconic Spice shoes.
