Anne Hathaway says RuPaul’s Drag Race inspired her character in The Witches

Gag on this.

By Jamie Tabberer

Anne Hathaway has said her character in new film The Witches was in part inspired by RuPaul’s Drag Race.

Well, there have certainly been a lot of witches on RPDR. And we say that with love!

The Oscar-winner takes over the role played by Anjelica Huston in the 1990 film, based on the iconic story by Roald Dahl.

Speaking to Metro, Anne said: “I make no secret of the fact I’m a huge fan of RuPaul’s Drag Race so I just tried to take every single thing I’ve learnt from that show and incorporate it into making a fabulous entrance.”

“Anjelica Huston gave one of the most memorable performances I’ve ever seen”

Elsewhere in the interview, The Devil Wears Prada star said: “I saw The Witches [directed by Nicolas Roeg] as a child and Anjelica Huston gave one of the most memorable performances I’ve ever seen. It’s so perfect – it’s flawless.”
