Andrew Scott has joined the cast of ‘His Dark Materials’ season two

The first season is set to air on BBC One this Christmas

Andrew Scott has joined the cast of His Dark Materials series.

The openly gay actor is best known for starring as Moriarty in the BBC’s hit show Sherlock and most recently as the Hot Priest in Fleabag.

But now, the actor has been cast to play Colonel John Parry (aka Dr. Stanislaus Grumman and Jopari) in the BBC adaptation of Philip Pullman’s popular fantasy series.

However, fans of Scott will have to wait for season two to see his character brought to life in the hit series but the BBC has already renewed the new show for a second season despite not airing the first yet.

Colonel John Parry is the father of Will Parry (Amir Wilson), who helps Lyra Belacqua (Dafne Keen) on her quest to protect the alethiometer from Marisa Coulter (Rut Wilson).

The series is set to premiere in Christmas 2019 on BBC One in the United Kingdom, and HBO in the United States.
