Blue’s Duncan James makes red carpet debut with boyfriend Alexander Roque at the Attitude Awards 2026 (EXCLUSIVE)
Speaking to Attitude, the pair reveal how they first met, what life's like living together with James's mother and their next steps

Every gay’s favourite Blue member Duncan James has made his red carpet debut with boyfriend Alexander Roque at the Virgin Atlantic Attitude Awards 2026, in partnership with M&S and electrified by Polestar.
The happy couple went public on Instagram late last year and appear to have gone from strength to strength, holidaying together, with Roque even becoming Blue’s roadie.
James’s new boyfriend is a Brazilian-born performer, actor, model and dancer, best known for touring with the male stripper group Forbidden Nights.
Speaking to Attitude at the 15th Attitude Awards at London’s Roundhouse today (7 October), the pair revealed how they got together.
How did Duncan James and boyfriend Alexander Roque meet?
James said the pair met at Terminal 5 Heathrow. “We just started chatting and we just got on really well and I was really interested in his life,” he explained.
Introducing his partner as the producer of M.E.N. Live, “the first male strip show for men”, James said: “He’s taken me there a few times,” before Roque added: “My goal is to bring him on stage.”
“That’s never going to happen,” said the singer.
What is it like living with your mother-in-law?
James revealed earlier this year that Roque had moved into his family home in Surrey, where he lives with the singer and his mother, Fiona.
Roque said it has been a first for both of them. “His mum is also in the house which adds a bit of seasoning to the relationship.”
“It feels great to come back from a show and have him at home waiting,” said the performer, admitting getting into bed with James is very “special”.
Next steps in their relationship
James is currently performing with Blue as the band continues their 25th anniversary, beginning earlier this year, with upcoming dates in Dubai and Germany.
“He knows all the words to the songs,” said James, to which his boyfriend jokes he would be choreographing all the group’s dance routines.
Their next step in their relationship is when Duncan and his mother go to Brazil to celebrate Christmas with Roque’s family.
He described it as a “big first”, adding “all of us are going to be together sharing our Christmas together which is really special.”
