Lady Gaga beats out Adele and Beyoncé to be named Best Female at MTV EMAs

Lady Gaga proved she’s still a force to be reckoned with after sweeping to victory at the the MTV Europe Music Awards in The Netherlands last night (November 6).
The ‘Perfect Illusion’ singer beat off fellow pop heavyweights Adele, Beyoncé and Rihanna to take home the Best Female Artist prize at the star-studded ceremony in Rotterdam.
Gaga – who is rumoured to be taking on the role of Donatella Versace in an upcoming season of Ryan Murphy’s American Crime Story – may have polarised fans with her dramatic country reinvention for fifth studio album Joanne, but still managed to score her fourth No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart upon the record’s release last month.
Hosted by emerging US star and ‘In the Name of Love’ singer Bebe Rexha, the MTV EMAs also saw the likes of Justin Bieber, Shawn Mendes, Little Mix and Fifth Harmony take home prizes.
Mendes, who shot to fame in 2013 after he began posting his own covers of Justin Bieber hits on YouTube, proved he’s become a formidable artist in his own right after beating his former inspiration to be named Best Male Artist.
