ITV’s star of The Chase, Paul Sinha, reads the bittersweet lyrics of the Pet Shop Boys’ 1989 hit, ‘Being Boring’ as he joins us for Pride.

Taking part in the Speaking of Pride series, empowered by Bentley as part of Attitude’s Pride at Home Paul says the Pet Shop Boys are his “favourite band of all time and the one that has most soundtracked my life.”

“Nonetheless,” the comedian, broadcaster, and professional quizzer. continues, “I think they’re more famous, and always will be more famous for their music, rather than their lyrics. This hit from 1989 is very much the exception. [A] Bittersweet anthem to loss and the embracing of hedonism.”

The song lyrics speak to remembering old times with friends and looking back while also missing those who aren’t around anymore.

As part of Speaking of Pride, empowered by Bentley, £500 is being donated to a charity of Paul’s choosing. As a patron of Stand Against Violence, Paul has chosen them.

He says of the charity, “Stand Against Violence is a charity born out of tragedy, whose educational messages have never been more relevant.”

Also stepping into the back seat of our Bentley Flying Spur this year are Olympic champion and Strictly trailblazer Nicola Adams, who will recite a poem by fellow boxing legend Muhammed Ali, as well as Pretty Little Liars actor Julian Morris, who reads Carol Ann Duffy’s sensual queer poem ‘Warming Her Pearls’.

Meanwhile, actor Tom Prior will read a passage from The Story of Roman; the book that his recent LGBTQ romantic drama Firebird is based on.

Author Jack Guinness delivers the forward from his acclaimed 2021 book The Queer Bible, while internet superstar Lewys Ball recites lyrics from Lil Nas X’s track ‘Sun Goes Down’, which deal with coming out.

Speaking of Pride, empowered by Bentley is part of Attitude Pride at Home, which runs from 9-19 June on attitude.co.uk, youtube.com/attitudemag, and on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram (@attitudemag).

Attitude Pride at Home is to benefit the Attitude Magazine Foundation for LGBT causes.
