Rita Ora is on course to tie a chart record held by Spice Girls legend Geri Halliwell.

Ora released her latest single I Will Never Let You Down on Sunday (May 11) and the Official Charts Company have revealed this afternoon (May 14) that the track, which was written and produced by Ora’s boyfriend Calvin Harris, is leading the race for Number One this Sunday (May 18).

If I Will Never Let You Down holds on to the top spot, it will be Ora’s fourth UK chart-topper following Hot Right Now, a collaboration with DJ Fresh, R.I.P. and How We Do (Party).

Although Ora was technically a featured artist on Hot Right Now, the Official Chart Company have confirmed that this still counts as a Number One for the 23-year-old singer.

At present, the only British female solo artist to have scored four Number Ones on the UK Official Singles Chart is Halliwell, who reached the top spot with 1999’s Mi Chico Latino and Lift Me Up, 2000’s Bag It Up and 2001’s It’s Raining Men.

Several other British female solo artists are right behind Halliwell with three number ones, including Leona Lewis, Pixie Lott and Alexandra Burke. Attitude‘s Will Stroude has weighed up their chances of catching Halliwell – click here to read his predictions.
