Avril Lavigne’s original demo version of Kelly Clarkson’s Breakaway has leaked online – listen below.
Lavigne co-wrote and recorded the track before deciding to leave it off her 2002 debut album Let Go, which spawned the hit singles Complicated and I’m With You.
The song was later revived for Kelly Clarkson’s 2004 album Breakaway – and helped to save the American Idol winner from being dropped by her record label following the disappointing performance of her debut album Thankful.
Breakaway went on to reach the top ten on the US singles chart and become one of Clarkson’s best-loved songs. It also featured on the soundtrack to the 2004 film The Princess Diaries 2.
