LC:M Day 2 Review- Powered by Renault

By Joseph Kocharian

There were a lot of model armies gathering on day 2 of L:CM, this first we saw from Astrid Andersen- her fleet of models gathered at the end of the runway all standing on ceremony, complete with berets. Her brand motif was there, as per usual, complimented with some incredible high shine material. With a palette of black and purple, astrid had hoods, fur panels and checks to add great nuances to her collection, showing her mastery in all things sports luxe.

YMC layered wide brimmed hats over hoodies- a clever little mix of smart and uber casual. The collection was a neat palette of grey, navy and mustard, with plenty of trouser options, whether you were wanting cropped or elasticated ankles. It was a strong, clean and wearable collection.

Agi & Sam had a multicoloured offering, complete with Lego artwork on the models faces. The collection was borne when Agi went home to Yorkshire as his mother showed him a clothing range he had drawn at the tender age of 4 years old (talented, right?) this lead them to get in touch with their old school and ask the pupils about what they wished clothing could do. They cut up a load of clothes, then got the kids to Velcro the clothes together like a puzzle, which was the starting point for their deconstructed clothes.

Hentsch man gave us a pop of grunge colour, with bottle swilling models in a little red room on the infamous soho sex alley, with long haired Kurt Kobain model and all over colours.

The Tron Legacy gave the soundtrack to the Hardy Amies show where the models walked out with suiting and outerwear, all executed with aplomb. In particular, the houndstooth print that came in a colour palette of navy, red and white worked brilliantly on the tailoring and overcoats. Ombré stripes are fast becoming a thing this season, as we spotted glimpse of them on the catwalk. The suiting was either put with a shirt that matched in pattern, or offset with a neutral cashmere turtle neck, giving both bold and soft wardrobe outfit choices to the suit wearer, complete with sumptuous outerwear.

It was back into our golden Renault x Attitude Mobile as we whizzed over to Oliver Spencer- last year we were treated to a Brazilian carnival (with a band and female dancers in full feathery plumage) and this year we got a raucous folk band who serenaded the models down the runway. Natt Weller, who we photographed last issue walked in the show, so we got snapping him as he walked down to the live music.

Christopher Raeburn has previously give us polar bear prints, but now it is the season of the shark. Everyone will be wanting the knitwear with the shark pattern on it- simple yet brilliantly executed with matching bags in the shape of sharks too. The whole collection was inspired by survival, in specific the ocean survival. A patch work of orange and yellow life raft material was lended to parkas, bags and bombers, as well as black rubber jacket. latex rubber was used to create inflatable outerwear in reds and Blues, and however off the wall it sounds, Raeburn has made it wearable- we want the shark bag for sure!

The final check point in our Renault was to the Sibling show, and if there was any sign of fatigue from the fashion crowd, Sibling firmly took care of that. Their models stormed out in a blaze of fantastic pink uniforms, which, in true punk style, had been customised and altered. The theme of pink punk stomped right the way down the runway, including pink punk Johnny Rotten/ Billy Idol hair, pink clothes, pink accessories, pink everything.

The collection had a huge scope, with the fantastic trio producing everything from skinny knitwear blazers, Bermuda shorts, jeans, classics crews and crop tops all in shocking pink hues- some with white shirts popping through to really give the feeling of a rebellious punk at school. Collegiate scarves an rugby socks all added to the link youth rebel theme. Some even carried teddies down the catwalk, injecting that fun we love about the brand. It’s safe to say they were the brand to break the Internet, as all the fashion accounts on social media were awash with Sibling’s pink brilliance.
