How to guide | Wearing colour, in association with StylePilot

By Nick Byam

Summer is slowly on its way. The days are longer, the nights are shorter and the sun is trying to peek through all this rain. We have teamed up with online style destination Stylepilot once again to bring you a new, weekly style column. This week, we’ve picked 4 main colours and then showcased our favourite items produced in each shade, all available online now at stylepilot.com.

BLUES

STYLE PILOT

Blue is the perfect way to ease into colour if you’re afraid of going too bright. Cobalt blue or baby blue are keys blues for summer but you can stick to darker shades or navy. Incorporate blue into your wardrobe using footwear for a more understated look.

We love the shade of these Timberland boots (style points for rocking the Kardashian/Jenner staple look) and the different shades of blue and geometric print in the Jimmy Choo trainers. Brighten up a dull dark look with this plain blue Burberry T and electric blue Diesel jacket. The blue beach printed shorts from Orlebar Brown will be sure to get you noticed wherever you were them.

1. Orlebar Brown Bulldog Men’s Mid-Length, £225.00 2. Men’s Timberland® Icon 6-Inch Premium Boot, £96.00 3. Diesel Biker Jacket J-Edge-Clean Lightweight, £150.00 4. Tunworth Slim-Fit Cotton-Jersey T-Shirt Blue by Burberry, £75.00 5. BOYD London Blue Opaque Calf Leather by Jimm Choo, £475.00

REDS

STYLE PILOT4

Red is a key colour this season, and was seen all over the catwalks from Christopher Kane to Gucci. Gucci is currently having a revival with Alessandro Michele, now creative director of the iconic Italian fashion house. This ’70s style floral bomber is a must have item. We love the boldness of the tomato red Paul Smith ‘P’ jumper. Go darker with red corduroy jeans or keep red to a minimum with red Calvin Klein boxers or these Lanvin trainers.

1. Reversible Geranium-Print Silk-Twill Bomber, £1510.00 2. Men’s Calvin Klein Power electric ltd cotton, £18.00 3. Paul Smith Men’s Red Intarsia ‘P’ Cotton, £445.00 4. Red Slim Fit Corduroy Jeans, £95.00 5. Woven Suede and Leather Slip-On Sneakers, £435.00

GREENS

STYLE PILOT2

Green can be a tricky to colour to pull off, so we have selected a variety of different shades, and you can choose what works best for you. If you’re brave, we have the striped Ralph Lauren sweater which would brighten up any outfit and is perfect for a sunny day. We’ve gone darker with the River Island corduroy jeans and opted for panelled green and white on the Lacoste polo and Gucci trainers.

1. Lacoste Polo Edition, £110.00 2. Perry Short-Length Swim Shorts, £90.00 3. River Island Mens Green corduroy stretch, £10.00 4. Leather Suede and Ayers Snake Low-Top, £370.00  5. Striped Cotton Sweater by Ralph Lauren, £75.00

PINKS

STYLE PILOT3

Are you brave enough to wear pink? The colour is not for everyone but at Attitude, we love it. Start off easy with pink accessories like these River Island sunglasses or Nike trainers. For a little more muted tone try the Jersey ASOS shorts. Our favourite item is the pink lumberjack Marc Jacobs shirt, a contemporary twist on a classic masculine shirt.

1. Roshe Flyknit Shield Sneakers Purple, £100.00 2. Marc Jacobs Checked Cotton-Blend, £155.00 3. ASOS Jersey Shorts – Pink Marl, £4.00 4. Ray-Ban Wayfarer Sunglasses, £90.00 5. Perfect Cotton T-Shirt Pink by Our Legacy, £75.00
