Graham Norton wins big at British Comedy Awards
By Will Stroude
Graham Norton was one of the big winners at last night’s British Comedy Awards in London (December 16).
The BBC presenter and comedian took home two prizes, beating host Jonathan Ross to collect the awards for best comedy entertainment personality and best comedy entertainment programme and for The Graham Norton Show.
Other winners included Jack Whitehall – who was named ‘King of Comedy’ for the third year running – and Harry Enfield, who was named best TV comedy actor for BBC Two spoof documentary Harry and Paul’s Story of The Twos, which he made with Paul Whitehouse.
Graham Norton received one of three Icon Awards at the Attitude Awards earlier this year (October), and was presented with the accolade by Carrie Fisher. Relive the Star Wars actress’s incredible speech from the night below:
Speaking to Attitude earlier this year, Norton discussed his onscreen future, saying: “I always said I’d retire at 50, but now I’m 51 and I’m still doing it and we’re doing it for the future, I guess. And I’m still enjoying it.
“It’s not like this awful thing that I’ve got to force myself to do – I like doing it, I like going to work. So hopefully I will start to hate it before the public start to hate it, and so I’ll step away just before people are going, ‘F**k off!’”
The 51-year-old also revealed that he gets the most stick for being camp from other gay men – click here to read more.
