George Michael: ‘I’m working on dance tracks for new album’
By Sam Rigby
George Michael has confirmed that he is working on dance songs for his new album.
The singer – who topped the UK Album Chart earlier this year with Symphonica – described his next album as “a pretty upbeat collection”.
A release date for the album has yet to be confirmed, but it is expected that the record will be released in 2015.
Speaking to the Hampstead and Highgate Express, Michael said: “This will be a pretty upbeat collection I think, and some of them are dance tracks.
“A lot of my hits – even the dance records – kind of tap you on the shoulder and say, ‘Right, listen to me a few times and you’ll get it.’ The ones that I’ve written for this album, though, are much more like, ‘Well here we are – Bang!’
However, the singer said that he is “too close” to the project to accurately compare it to his previous work.
“I’m too close to the album at the moment to gauge how it stacks up against my other work, so I’ll be interested to know – when it’s released – which of the tracks the public thinks will be the potential classics,” he concluded.
