Attitude Active: Red Hot model Jake Hold talks workouts and tatts

By Ben Kelly

In the new issue of Attitude, model, athlete and ‘Red Hot’ star Jake Hold, 25, chats training, tattoos and Vivaldi (yes, really)…Jake_278What’s your workout regime like?

The last five years I’ve been going hard on heavy weight lifting, but not really trying to get big or anything, just eating well and staying strong. I go to the gym about five or six days a week. I mostly do heavy weights and conditioning. At the moment though, I am learning hand balancing and have moved on more to gymnastics, so I’m doing a lot of push ups, pull ups and so on. I’ve stopped heavy weight training for now.

You look quite lean – so you’re doing these weights to gain strength, rather than build muscle?

My weight is deceptive! I’ve always tried to stay quite lean and do a bit of cardio and walk around. It’s funny, I walk into the gym being the skinniest guy there and start strapping 60k plates to my chest and the other guys are like, ‘What the fuck?’

What else do you do outside of the gym?

I’ve never been a huge fan of running, but I wanted to be really ripped, so I started doing around 10 to 20k a day, but then I broke my toe because I was going to the gym twice a day too, so I can’t really run anymore. I use the stepper instead, but can’t really put much pressure on the front of my foot.

What kind of music do you work out to?

It depends – definitely Wu Tang Clan if I am trying to push myself. Stretching, I listen to Vivaldi’s Four Seasons because it’s important to relax yourself. And, it sounds really cheesy, but Eminem!

What kind of gymnastics are you doing?

Well, at the moment I’m learning hand balancing, which is what you see people doing at the circus. I am learning all that sort of stuff. It takes people years to perfect it and I’m currently on my second month. I have some really good people training me, so I hope to be performing in a circus by next year. I have some great contacts on social media and in the modelling industry, so watch this space.

You’ve got lots of tattoos. How do they complement your body?

Well, I’ve got a few that are aesthetically pleasing, but I’ve also got a few really shit ones which do absolutely nothing for my body. I’ve got them all over my chest, my neck, my palm. I get an idea and just think, ‘that might look good’!
