Three of the best: Vintage sportswear collaborations

Mixing retro chic with a modern edge, these collections hit the style sweet spot.

By Sacha Dance

The vintage sportswear trend shows no signs of slowing, as more and more designers and brands put their own spin on styles from the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s.

To help you hone in on the best options, we’ve picked our three favourite collaborations, from Madonna ‘Don’t Tell Me’ rodeo-riders, to ’90s skaters to luxe sportswear inspired by 1970s Jamaican dancehalls.

Check them out below:

Orville Peck for Wrangler Fall/Winter Icons

We love a cowboy, and also Orville Peck, so we’re salivating over Wrangler’s Fall Winter 2020 Icons Ambassador.

The masked musician’s wardrobe draws heavily from vintage style, so Wrangler’s Fall/Winter Icons collection fits him like a pair of snug chaps (alas, they haven’t done a pair for this collection).

The pieces have archival fits for ranch hands and rodeo riders, rebels and rock stars, which gives a refreshing spin on the sports collaboration that we’re used to.

The reissued denim heritage designs include black washed jeans, denim shirt and jacket, that on song for autumn winter.

Palace meets Moschino

Streetwear brand Palace are the apex of cool when it comes to skater brands, so when they jumped on board with Moschino, we knew it was going to be a lot of fashion fun.

Palace Moschino blends both brands’ aesthetics with aplomb, offering sumptuous luxe printed puffers and shearlings, knits and shirts mixed with sportier hoodies, t-shirts and monogramed denim.

In all, it’s the ’90s sport style that’ll add some instant cool to any outfit.
