Fila join forces with Brooks Brothers for sophisticated retro sportwear range

The Brooks Brothers x Fila collaboration blends formalwear with streetwear

Fila are keeping things buttoned up with their latest collaboration, which sees the heritage sports brand join forces with famed New York tailors Brooks Brothers

As long-term partners of the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, both brands are taking inspiration from the classic, clean-cut looks that graced late 20th-century tennis lawns.

This includes modern iterations iteration of Bjorn Borg’s glorious (and Wimbledon-winning) 1976 Fila striped polo; his tailored, super-short-shorts and infamous headband – now all adorned with the golden fleece heritage logo of Brooks Brothers.

There’s even a fresh take on the paneled tracksuit Borg wore when he held the trophy aloft on Centre Court in 1980 after victory over his rival John McEnroe.

Taking style inspiration from one of history’s most well-dressed Wimbledon winners – who was known for serving looks at Studio 54 alongside Bianca Jagger – is always a good play, in our opinion.

It’s not all about the tennis though, as the Brooks Brothers x Fila collection boasts beautiful seersucker suiting that comes in gold or with a bold white stripe, as well as preppy polos and Oxford shirts.

Matching tracksuits, full zip jackets and even some vests with rib-knit banding really lean into leisurewear’s increasing tendency towards smartening up – something that’s only increased as more and more people working from home over the past year.

If you always felt like you couldn’t choose between being a Posh and Sporty Spice, the Brooks Brothers x Fila collection means that you can be a bit of both. Now if only we could have some leopard print too, so we can channel Mel B, as well…

The collection is available on Brooksbrothers.com and Fila.com as well as select Brooks Brothers stores.
