David Gandy and Mariano Vivanco reunite to capture the ultimate pair of pants
Teaming up with longtime collaborator Mariano Vivanco, the Wellwear campaign teases a stripped-back look at Gandy.
Few male models can boast a career like David Gandy. From dominating the world’s runways to launching his lifestyle brand Wellwear in 2021, the British style icon knows what makes a good pair of pants. After all, he’s spent most of his career in them.
For his latest underwear campaign, he turned to a familiar collaborator: photographer Mariano Vivanco. The two made waves in 2011 with Gandy’s unforgettable Attitude cover, and now they’re back to capture a new chapter.
Enter The Ultimate Trunk: understated, versatile, and scientifically engineered for comfort that lasts all day and all night. No gimmicks, no garish branding, just premium craftsmanship in navy, black, and white.
The trunks feature Wellwear’s signature blend of cotton, modal, and elastane, enhanced with the brand’s ‘Wellwear Breathe’ nanotechnology. A fancy way of saying they’re antibacterial, anti-odour, and anti-disappointment.
“It’s an intimate launch, so working with someone whose artistry I love and who knows me well was important to me,” Gandy tells us.
Gandy and Vivanco’s creative chemistry was most notable in a series of iconic Dolce & Gabbana campaigns. Through his cinematic lens and Gandy’s commanding presence the duo have created imagery both sensual and classic. A visual language they continue to refine in their latest collaboration for Wellwear.
Of Vivanco, he adds, “As one of the greats, he brings out the best in the subject and his shots capture a moment in time that are cinematic in their feel and mood.” It’s proof that when a model and photographer click, the results are electric.
