Pride Festival hits Brighton this weekend
Brighton is preparing for its biggest, most colourful party of the year this weekend, as Pride hits the seaside LGBT mecca for 2015.
Celebrating its 25th anniversary and boasting the likes of Hercules & Love Affair, Bright Light Bright Light, Ms. Dynamite, The Freemasons and Foxes on their bill, it’s an ideal excuse to get out of London for the day – or the whole weekend. Even away from the main stages you’ll find more stars than you can shake a disco stick at. So-hot-right-now Orange Is The New Black actor Ruby Rose is even DJing!

Revellers have the historic parade to feast their peepers on, and by jove it’s a popular event. Over 160,000 people are excepted to descend on Brighton to watch the parade snake its way around the streets. To mark this special anniversary, and in recognition of Brighton’s diverse and inspirational community, the theme for this year’s pride is ‘Carnival of diversity’, which organisers say will encompass everything that has become iconic about the diverse, creative and open-minded community that makes Brighton internationally famous.

More importantly, the parade will also aim to highlight issues affecting the LGBT community around the world where living their lives is not as easy. The parade will highlight the 78 countries where it is illegal to be homosexual by once again including 78 placards representing those countries on the parade.
On a lighter note, the event will also introduce a fresh young talent who is tipped for big things. Luke Fincher is a 19-year-old Brighton singer/songwriter with a soulful R&B tone and a sweet falsetto. Influenced by artists including Prince, Lauryn Hill, Beyoncé, and Janet Jackson. Luke has released an EP called First Step, the songs of which will be heard at the event. Luke says he can’t wait to get involved and is proud to represent a new wave of gay R&B singers.
