Dame Vivienne Westwood is to make an appearance at an upcoming gay night in east London to help raise awareness of fracking.

The 73-year-old fashion designer – who is renowned for her ecological and political activism – will make a speech at the ‘Fracking Hell… I’m Handsome’ event next week (October 4), to raise awareness of the controversial gas and oil drilling technique.

The event is being held in support of the ‘We Need to Talk About Fracking’ project, which is already being supported by celebrities including Sir Paul McCartney, Yoko Ono, Jude Law and Helena Bonham Carter.

The night will feature an exciting mixture of performers and cabaret stars, as well as house and disco DJs. In keeping with Dame Vivienne’s eco-fashion stance, a ‘Trashion Show’ by members of East London’s alternative drag scene will also take place.
