US Senator: ‘We need to fall to our knees and pray to stop gay marriage’

By Josh Haggis

US Senator Ted Cruz has claimed that America needs to “fall to its knees and pray” to stop the Supreme Court from legalising same-sex marriage nationwide.

At Iowa’s Faith & Freedom Summit on Saturday, the Republican Presidential hopeful claimed that the Democratic party are responsible for attacking the Christian faith and trying to eradicate religious freedom in the US in the run up to the Supreme Court justice’s ruling on same-sex marriage.

“What a sad statement that today’s modern Democratic party has become so radicalized in their devotion to mandatory gay marriage in all 50 states that there is no longer any room for religious liberty. How radicalized has the modern Democratic party got? And we see this especially in the marriage debate,” said Cruz.

“On Tuesday, the United States Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in a case that threatens the Court may well attempt to strike down marriage laws in all 50 states. I have to tell you one thing that I think all of us are called to do between now and then and especially on Tuesday – is fall to our knees in prayer,” he added.

Supreme Court justices are meeting in Washington today (April 28) to begin hearing arguments on same-sex marriage.
