Uber taxi firm marries gay couples to celebrate Pride

Taxi firm Uber offered weddings “on demand” last weekend to celebrate San Francisco Pride – and a year since marriage equality was reinstated in California.

On June 28, in addition to using Uber’s app to book a regular taxi, couples in San Francisco were offered the chance to receive a free “on-demand marriage”.

All couples had to do was select ‘UberWEDDING’ on the app and drop a map pin to wherever they wanted to tie the knot in the city.

The company promised to arrange everything, ranging from music to a cake, and even offered a free honeymoon to those that married on the day.

Eight couples took advantage of the special offer, including several gay couples, and you can watch a touching video featuring their wedding ceremonies below:
