Two people were stabbed while celebrating at Fort Lauderdale pride festival.

Over the weekend, the two victims – who were not named – were out celebrating the annual pride festival in the Florida city when they were both stabbed near the main stage of the festival.

They were sent to hospital with one of them suffering a serious injury and the other with superficial injuries. Both were reported to make a full recovery.

Two people were detained following the attack, according to the Miami Herald, but no other information was given.

However, a police spokesperson told Local 10 that the attack was an isolated one following an altercation.

Officer Casey Liening said: “We believe this was an isolated incident, which began as an altercation between two parties.

“This was not an attack or an active killer situation.”

The US city is known for its large LGBT community and has one of the highest ratios of gay men and lesbians, with gay men being more largely present.
