The two brothers who claimed they helped Jussie Smollett stage a racist and homophobic attack against him are suing the actor’s lawyers.
Smollett, who was hospitalised following the attack in attack in Chicago on 29 January, claims two white men tied a rope around his neck, poured a corrosive substance over him and made reference to President Donald Trump’s 2016 election slogan ‘Make America Great Again’.
However, Smollett’s lawyers denied he had any involvement in the alleged racist and homophobic attack but Chicago Police Department revealed the Empire star has been charged with filing a false police report.
The actor pleaded not guilty to 16 counts of disorderly conduct for allegedly lying to police in relation to the alleged racist and homophobic attack.
And prosecutors eventually dropped all charges against the actor.
At the time, Nigerian brothers Ola and Abel Osundairo – who worked as extras on Empire – were questioned by police for their alleged involvement in the attack.
But now the two brothers have filed a federal lawsuit which alleges Mark Geragos and his law firm continued to say publicly that the brothers ‘led a criminally homophobic, racist and violent attack against’ Smollett.
