TV Choice Awards won’t be held at the Dorchester Hotel following Brunei’s death penalty law
The annual TV ceremony has taken place in the luxurious hotel each year

The TV Choice Awards will not be held at The Dorchester Hotel following Brunei’s death penalty law.
The London hotel has hosted the annual TV awards every year but amid calls to boycott Brunei-owned businesses – which has been back by Elton John and George Clooney – after the Sultan of Brunei invoked the inhumane and horrific law this week.
STA Travel also revealed they have terminated any flights with Royal Brunei Airlines following the introduction of the law.
And now, the TV ceremony has revealed that they will no longer be taking place at the Dorchester – a luxury hotel owned by the Sultan of Brunei.
On the official Twitter page for TV Choice magazine, a statement read: “The 2019 TV Choice Awards will not be held at The Dorchester Hotel.
“This year’s venue will be announced in due course.”

Julie Hesmondhalgh – the former Coronation Street star who played trans woman Hayley Cropper up until 2014 – called for the TV ceremony to change its venue.
She tweeted: “Brunei is about to start stoning #LGBT citizens to death.
“We need to start boycotting their hotels, listed below. Starting with @TVChoiceAwards. Pls don’t hold it at the Dorchester.”
