Troye Sivan says he was terrified of being gay and the fear is still there.

The ‘Bloom’ singer and former Attitude cover star came out publicly as gay via a YouTube video on 7 August 2013, three years after coming out to his family.

However, while speaking to Harper’s BAZAAR Australia Man, the singer/songwriter admitted he was terrified of being gay and revealed the fear is still there.

He said: “Growing up in a society where I didn’t want to be gay for the first 15 years of my life, I was terrified of it.

“That’s still in there and I’m personally trying to work it out. I’m enjoying this process of pushing myself, figuring out – am I into this? Am I not? There are no rules.

“Although I came out as gay to my family, there was still a lot that I hid, the way I wanted to move, dress, speak.”
