Suspicious package was safely detonated as Brighton Pride went on

The mysterious package that caused an hour and a half’s delay at today’s Brighton Pride was blown up by experts earlier this afternoon, reports the Brighton Argus.
“The suspect package identified on Brighton seafront before the Brighton Pride Parade has been detonated in a controlled explosion by army bomb disposal experts, which is normal procedure,” said the Sussex Police in a statement on their website.
Police maintain that there was no immediate risk to the public. Cordons around the bandstand on the A259 have been removed.
Needless to say, the show went on and the bomb scare was soon forgotten as the crowd took to the streets on this Pride-perfect day. Here are a few videos and photos from social media:
