Sharon Osbourne urges fans to join Brunei hotel boycott

Sharon Osbourne has urged her fans to join her in boycotting hotels owned by the Sultan of Brunei following his introduction of new anti-gay laws.
Earlier this month, it emerged that Hassanal Bolkiah is making anal sex punishable with death by stoning, alongside other offences like rape, adultery, extramarital sexual relations for Muslims.
The former X Factor judge tweeted: “Please join me in Boycotting @BevHillsHotel, @HotelBelAir and all @Dc_LuxuryHotels.”
Last week, LGBT rights group Gill Action Fund cancelled their upcoming event at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles because of its ties to Brunei, and a small group of gay activists staged a protest outside the hotel on Saturday (April 26).
Meanwhile, Stephen Fry is also taking part in the boycott, after cancelling his reservation at Ascot’s Coworth Park Hotel, after he discovered the company’s links to the Sultan of Brunei.
The Dorchester Collection, owner of the Coworth Park Hotel, responded by saying that it does “not tolerate any form of discrimination” and that they support “equality, respect and integrity” in all areas of their operation.
