Sam Smith responds to Howard Stern's 'ugly, fat & effeminate' rant?

Sam Smith has seemingly responded to a vile on-air rant from US DJ Howard Stern, in which he labelled the six-time Grammy nominee “ugly”, “fat” and “effeminate”.

Speaking on his radio show last week (January 23), the US ‘shock jock’ and America’s Got Talent judge verbally attacked the 22-year-old, saying: “Do you know what I love about that guy? He’s an ugly motherf***er.

“He’s fat. And I love it. You know what, he looks gay to me. Not that anybody looks gay but he does seem effeminate,” he added.

“I feel like that [Stay With Me] will be his only hit song. I’d like to get him in here and congratulate him on beating the odds.”

Smith – who was the only artist to sell over a million records in both the UK & US last year – seemingly responded to the controversy over the weekend (January 25) in a series of tweets:

The singer also retweeted a message from actress and comedienne Bonnie Hunt, who told the singer not to “let negative remarks go to your heart”.
