Sam Smith hints that he's broken up with his boyfriend

Sam Smith has hinted that his relationship with Jonathan Zeizel has come to an end.

The singer met Zeizel on the set of his Like I Can music video, which featured Smith and his male co-stars walking through the streets of New York City in tuxedos. The couple celebrated New Year’s Eve in Sydney, and Smith has shared numerous pictures of them both on social media over the past month.

Sadly, it appears the relationship has come to an end following comments Smith made before singing a breakup song at his concert in Toronto last night (January 21), where he explained that he “had to do a similar thing” earlier in the day.

“This song is very special for me today. It’s because I’ve actually had to do a very similar thing today with someone I’ve been seeing,” said Smith.

Following his performance the singer posted a selfie on Instagram, saying that although the show was “beautiful,” it had been a “sad day” for him.
