Rainbow Lottery: Tickets for first-ever LGBTQ lottery go on sale tomorrow

In partnership with the Rainbow Lottery.

By Will Stroude

From 9am BST on Thursday 22 April, tickets will be available LIVE online for the The Rainbow Lottery – your chance to scoop a £25,000 jackpot and help LGBTQ+ good causes.

The first draw takes place on Saturday June 12th, with 60p from every £1 ticket going to LGBTQ+ charities and good causes.

It’s free for good causes to register for The Rainbow Lottery, where more than 50 have registered already and others are encouraged to sign up so their supporters can support them when they play.

Simon Sheehan, Chair for The Ben Cohen Stand-Up Foundation, one of  the first good causes to sign-up, said: “We were keen to support The Rainbow Lottery, not only for the benefits it can bring to us as a charity and our anti-bullying work but also for the benefit it will bring to the wider LGBTQ+ community.”

Richard Hearne, Director of the inclusive cycling group, PRIDE OUT, said: “I’m delighted we are registered as one of the founding good causes. The Rainbow Lottery will be a game changer for LGBTQ+ sport and physical activity groups, often overlooked. Funds will make a meaningful difference to our goal of group bike rides across the UK. I encourage other LGBTQ+ good causes to sign up.”

Players have a 50 to one chance of winning one of the weekly prizes, which range from the £25,000 jackpot to three extra tickets.

Tom Gattos, Co-Founder of The Rainbow Lottery said: “The Rainbow Lottery is history-making for the LGBTQ+ community, which at last has its own central arena of support.

There is still a lot of work to do in the community, so we will be encouraging all LGBTQ+ causes to register as a beneficiary of the lottery, so we can help each one continue their vital work.”

The Lottery Council’s “Lottery Operator of the Year”, Gatherwell, has been appointed to run the lottery. Ben Speare, Gatherwell’s Managing Director, said: “We are delighted that Gatherwell has been awarded the opportunity to run The Rainbow Lottery.

“We’re looking forward to helping support the LGBTQ+ Community causes in partnership with the organisation.”
