Ollie Locke blasted by animal rights group over Bear Grylls appearance

An animal rights group have slammed upcoming scenes from The Island with Bear Grylls, in which Made In Chelea’s Ollie Locke apparently stabs a crocodile to death.
According to The Sun, Ollie, who came out as gay in July this year, will be seen jumping on the back of a croc, and stabbing it through the rear of its neck. The scenes are set to air during Channel 4’s Stand Up To Cancer television special in October.
Alan Knight, of International Animal Rescue, said: “I feel it is totally unacceptable to kill or abuse animals for entertainment”, adding that the animal would have “suffered unnecessarily.”
However, Channel 4 have defended the scenes, saying: “The premise of the series, in aid of Stand Up to Cancer, is to see if when stripped of all the conveniences of modern life, celebrities have what it takes to survive and feeding themselves is a fundamental part of this.
“Those on the island all received training on how to kill animals humanely and this was utilised properly in each instance.”
Bear Grylls’ The Island is scheduled to air on Channel 4 this October.
