Netflix, Time Warner and Sony are the latest to boycott Georgia
HB 757 is sitting on Governor Nathan Deal waiting to be signed.
Earlier this week Marvel and Disney suggested a boycott if the bill was signed by Deal.
Now many more companies are threatening to boycott Georgia if the bill is signed.
The companies threatening include Viacom, 21st Century Fox, Lionsgate, CBS, Starz, Netflix, Time Warner, The Weinstein Company, Sony, Comcast/NBC Universal, MGM, STX Entertainment and Open Road Films.
While many of the companies have urged Deal to veto the bill, Netflix released a statement and said: “We recently completed two films and a series in Georgia and had planned on filming two series there in the coming months. Should any legislation allowing discriminatory practice be signed into state law, we will move out productions elsewhere.”
On Friday (March 25) the NFL said Georgia could lose out on hosting the Superbowl if the bill passes.
The bill, originally described as a measure to protect pastors who refuse to perform same-sex weddings can now allow hospitals to refuse treatment to people based on race, religion, sexual orientation or gender identity.
Nathan Deal has until May 3rd to veto or sign it.
