A man who tried to lure an underage boy to a sauna for sex has been spared jail.

Adam Gill, 41, was caught out by a paedophile hunter, who used Grindr to set up a fake profile of a 14-year-old boy named ‘Jason’.

Police seized his phone and discovered had been speaking to another man called Ian Howard about meeting a young boy for sex at the Basement gay sauna in Manchester.

Gill pleaded guilty but claimed it was just a fantasy and there was no intention to carry it out. Howard was also arrested and charged with attempting to arrange or facilitate an act which he intended another person to do.

Appearing before Bolton Crown Court, Gill was handed a three-year community order which includes attending a sexual offenders’ treatment programme, a five-year sexual harm prevention order and must sign onto the sex offenders’ register for the same amount of time.

On the day Gill was sentenced, the prosecution offered no evidence against Howard and he walked free, Wigan Today reported.
