A man has been left with permanent scarring after he was slashed with a boxcutter in a homophobic attack.
According to WCVB, the 25-year-old man from Boston was approached by Eddie Smith, 58, who started hurling homophobic slurs towards him.
Smith than hit him with a shovel before cutting him with a boxcutter near his eye, leaving him with a permanent scar.
According to police, Smith had hurled homophobic abuse at him in the past.
Despite being caught by the police, Smith was released on his own recognisance and will be arraigned this week.
