A man has been arrested for allegedly murdering another man because he added him to an LGBT WhatsApp group.

Petrus Paulus Ualubun, 21, was arrested by Indonesian authorities after the body of a man known as Ali, 33, was found in an alleyway in Jakarta, according to The Kompas – an Indonesian publication.

The victim is said to have suffered a number of stab wounds, including to the let temple, left eye, right chest, right back and right thigh.

Jakarta Police told The Star: “The suspect was mad at the victim when the latter added him to an LGBT WhatsApp group, as the suspect [claimed not to be a part of that community].

“The suspect invited the victim to meet, then assaulted and killed him.”

It is currently illegal to be gay in Indonesia but the country recently changed a law allowing public lashings to be done behind doors.
