A man and a teenager who raped two men they met on Grindr have been sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Mohammed Khan, 28, and a 17-year-old Slovakian – who cannot be named for legal reasons – described themselves as “two discreet lads” on Grindr, and arranged to meet two men at their homes.

Khan, a car mechanic from Glasgow, and the teenager contacted a 30-year-old man from the Pollok area of the Scottish city, the High Court in Livingston heard.

After chatting with him on the app, they turned up at his home last September. The teenager and the man performed a consensual act between them.

However, Khan then grabbed the man by his arm and pushed him against a wall and the Slovakian pulled down his pants and raped him, the BBC report.

Their next victim was a 20-year-old student living in university halls who said he had been threatened with violence before Khan forced him to perform a sex act on him.

Delivering the sentence, Judge Lord Uist said: “The victim in each of these charges was a homosexual man who was targeted for that and no doubt in the hope that he would report any crime against him to the police.

“You Mohammed Khan are now almost 29 years old. You described these crimes to the social worker who reported on you to this court as ‘just a bit of fun’.

“You were mature enough at the time to know exactly what you were doing.”

The teenager, as well as Afzaal Hassan, Julius Horvath, was also found guilty of attacking and attempting to rob another man.

The group arranged to meet the 40-year-old victim in an industrial estate for “sexual fun”, and when they turned up at Tradeston Industrial estate, Horvath was there and punched the man before he attempted to escape.

All three men chased him and armed themselves with poles and wood and when they caught up with the victim they started to attack him.

“They were trying to get me down, fighting and battering me. I was kind of in a dead end and the three of them were coming and just whacking us with poles and traffic cones,” the victim said.

“They were just bouncing off my back and head and I was trying to avoid them and dodging about. The young Slovakian boy had a big 2×2 piece of wood with a few nails on it.

“He hit me on my arm and smashed my elbow. I had to have an operation and get a steel plate put in it.”
