Logo TV distances itself from RuPaul’s ‘tranny’ comments?

Logo TV has appeared to distance itself from RuPaul’s recent comments about the word “tranny”.
Logo TV, the makers of RuPaul’s Drag Race, announced this April that the popular “you’ve got she-mail” segment from future episodes of the popular reality show – following complaints from viewers claiming the terminology was transphobic.
However, in an interview on a US podcast earlier this week (May 19), RuPaul defended the show’s right to use language as it sees fit, saying: “Does the word ‘tranny’ bother me? No. I love the word ‘tranny’.”
Responding to RuPaul’s comments in a statement to Buzzfeed, a Logo TV spokesperson said:
“These comments did not come from Logo. We are committed to supporting the entire LGBT community and will not feature any anti-trans rhetoric on our shows.”
RuPaul has since insisted Logo TV has in no way “distanced” itself from his comments, though, posting on Twitter:
