Liza Minnelli checks into rehab

Liza Minnelli has checked into a Malibu rehab facility.

A representative for the legendary performer, who turned 69 last week, has confirmed to TMZ that Minnelli is “making excellent progress” in the treatment centre where she’s reportedly seeking help for alcohol abuse issues.

Minnelli’s publicist, Scott Gorenstein, said that her decision to seek help was not triggered by a specific event.

“Liza Minnelli has valiantly battled substance abuse over the years and whenever she has needed to seek treatment she has done so,” Mr Gorenstein said.

“She is currently making excellent progress at an undisclosed facility.”

Minnelli has undergone an at times very public battle with drug and alcohol addiction for much of her life, including numerous stints in rehab. She was last admitted to rehab in 2004.
