Leave.EU slammed over new campaign linking Orlando shooting to ‘Brexit’

By Fabio Crispim

The Leave.EU campaign has come under fire for linking the Orlando shootings, which left 49 dead and 53 injured, to ‘Brexit’.

A new campaign photo by Leave.EU asks that Britons vote to leave the EU in next week’s referendum in order to stop an “Orlando-style atrocity” from happening in the UK.

Leave.EU took to Twitter to post the photo of the campaign which featured a group of ISIS members with the words, “Islamist extremism is a real threat to our way of life.”

It adds: “Act now before we see an Orlando-style atrocity here before too long.”

Campaigners calling for the UK to stay in the EU have slammed the tweet with Hilary Benn calling it, “Shameful and cowardly. Our best protection against terror is standing together whether in Orlando, Paris or Brussels.”

Gary Rae said, “You use a massacre of innocent people to say this. Desperate, disgusting stuff.”

According to Buzzfeed Leave.EU’s tweet was deleted an hour later and when Buzzfeed attempted to contact them, they couldn’t be reached.
